The symposium Green Deal, Industrial Ecology and Circular Economy will be held at the MSH Clermont in Clermont-Ferrand on December 5th-6th, 2024.
This event is part of the scientific activities of the WHITECYCLE project, a Horizon Europe project led by Michelin. This project brings together fifteen private and public partners from five different countries: France, Germany, Norway, Spain, and Turkey. The WHITECYCLE scheme aligns with the European Commission's action plan for a circular economy.
The aim of this project is to develop acircular solution to transform complex textile-based plastic waste into high-value products. This industrial project also involves academic researchers who explore the economic, social, and environmental impacts of the circular solution.
This symposium is co-organized by the Université Clermont Auvergne, Clermont Auvergne INP, the CERDI, the Jean Monnet Excellence Center on Sustainability and the Western Norway University ofApplied Sciences - HVL.
The symposium will gather researchers and practitioners who will present their research works on industrial ecology andcircular economy. They will discuss the results of existing industrial projects, they will also debate on politics and strategies and suggest newmodels integrating industrial ecology. Approximately 40 papers will be selected for presentation. A poster session is also scheduled.
Members of the WhiteCycle consortium will participate in the "Circular Economy in the Tire and Textile Industry" session, hosted by Clémentine Devarenne (Axelera).
Margarita Dorato (Michelin) will present BlackCycle, a major European initiative focused on recycling end-of-life tiresinto new tires. Thomas Simonelli (Michelin) will share insights on WhiteCycle, the European project aimed at processing and recycling PET from complex waste.Additionally, Tipawan Durand and Arnaud Diemer (UCA, CERDi, ERASME) willdiscuss their research on Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment and itscross-matrix impacts within the WhiteCycle project. Henri Sourgou and Arnaud Diemer (UCA, CERDi, ERASME) will also explore Industrial Dynamics and its applications to the PET process in the tire industry.
The WhiteCycle consortium members will also take part in a roundtable discussion to delve deeper into the project results. Participants in the roundtable include Margarita Dorato (Michelin),Jean-Philippe Faure (Aliapur), Thomas Simonelli (Michelin), Axelle Champion(IFTH), Maryon Wallet (Carbios), and representatives from Synergy TLC.
We invite you to meet us and learn more aboutthe project during the presentation!
